Community engagement is at the center of my campaign.
I take the the oath to serve and protect very seriously. As a licensed peace officer, I put my life in danger daily to keep citizens and communities safe. The statutory duties of a Constable and deputies are to serve warrants and civil papers, bailiff for the Justice of the Peace and various law enforcement functions, including traffic citations. Under my leadership, the Precinct 1 Constable office will also do other duties including:
  • Respond to calls for police service
  • Maintain public order
  • Conduct patrols
  • Assist at accidents
  • Speak to groups about crime prevention
  • Prevent the destruction of property
  • Assist in emergency situations during adverse weather conditions
  • Collect evidence at a crime scene
  • Testify in court
  • Partner with volunteer Neighborhood Watch or block watch programs to keep neighborhoods safe
  • Perform welfare checks upon request

Willie Mims' qualities for the role of Precinct 1 Constable are unmatched. These are the 4 core qualities that he shows on a daily basis:
  • HUMANITY - I respect every persons right to life and liberty as well as treating everyone with dignity, respect and compassion.
  • INTEGRITY - As a peace officer, I'm guided by the principles of justice and the law. I hold myself, deputies and staff to the highest ethical standard. Our office will be accountable, consistent, fair and honest in all our duties as we serve the people of Precinct 1.
  • PROFESSIONALISM - I will commit that the Precinct 1 Constable office will run on excellence, transparency and maintain the highest standards of professionalism is all the office executes during and outside office hours.
  • TRANSPARENCY - I will make sure all Precinct 1 officers and staff, myself included, is doing what they supposed to do and in an appropriate manner. This means we will share with the public, the good and bad of any situation. Everyone will be held accountable for their actions both in the Precinct 1 Constable office as well as the public.
